Championship involves a more grueling challenge with a 1.5-kilometer swim,
35-kilometer bike and a 10-kilometer run. All of these will take place in scenic Liloan,
Cebu. Aside from winning exciting cash
prizes (total pro prize money is US$15,000), the top age group finishers will
vie for 40 slots to the XTERRA World Championships in Maui, Hawaii. Registration for the March 2 triathlon events
is ongoing in the Vaseline Men XTERRA Philippines website (www.xterraphil.com).
Capping off the Vaseline Men XTERRA

10 and 5-kilometer distances for both the male and female categories.
More
importantly, top age group finishers for the 21K trail run will qualify for the

Series Global Championship last October 2012. Vaseline Men also offers a wide
range of skin care products which are perfect for men who engage in physically demanding
activities including triathlons as they help protect the skin from the sun’s
harmful rays and wash away dirt, dust and pollution. Included in its range are Facial Washes, Face

Men's Health November 2012
Men’s Health encourages you to face your fears in its November 2012 issue.
This November, Men’s Health dares you to face your fears in an issue packed with tips on how to do just that. On the cover is actor and sport climber Paulo Avelino, who despite his fear of heights, faced it head on by climbing atop outdoor rock formations.
“It doesn’t mean that if you’re afraid of heights, you can’t do rock climbing,” says Avelino who got introduced to the sport in 2007. At first, he trained indoors to build his endurance and rhythm. Then he pushed himself further by taking his climb outdoors with more experienced climbers.
Surprisingly, Avelino shares with Men’s Health that another element that he likes about the sport is the very thing he fears. “I enjoy reaching the top but falling. I can’t explain it. When you fall, you fall sa pinakamalapit na sinabitan mo. The fall makes you feel alive,” he quips.
In the same issue, Men’s Health features five men and women in uniform who bravely faced adversities in fulfilling their duties as civil servants. Awarded as outstanding Policemen and Soldiers by the Metrobank Foundation, they share their personal stories of bravery despite the life-threatening situations they were in.
The November 2012 issue also has an extensive article on do-it-yourself guy food. The recipes are quick and easy to make. So if it’s cooking you fear, Men’s Health will help you cover that base with ease.
Read more about these by grabbing the November 2012 issue of Men’s Health featuring Paulo Avelino on the cover. It’s now available in newsstands and bookstores nationwide. Disaster Preparedness
Press Release:
Preparedness Is Key with R.O.X.
R.O.X. holds disaster preparedness talk in its Fort branch
In
light of the recent torrential rains which heavily hit Metro Manila and nearby
provinces, Recreational Outdoor Exchange (R.O.X.), Asia’s largest outdoor
superstore, held a Disaster Preparedness Talk last August 30, 2012 at its
flagship store in Bonifacio High Street. R.O.X. brought onboard Coach Manny
Batungbacal, MHW – CORE Search and Rescue leader, and Louie Domingo, Emergency
First Response Instructor Trainer, as resource persons.
Aside
from preparing for typhoons and floods, the lecture also included scenarios for
other commonly occurring natural and man-made disasters namely earthquake and
fires.
There
may seem like a lot of things to remember when faced with any of these
situations, but what the lecturers couldn’t emphasize enough on is how
preparedness is key to anything. Everyone must always pay attention to the
first official warning given by the local government and different government
agencies.
With that, R.O.X. has launched its own Survival Kit, which has long been advocating the idea of personal survival. Included in this kit are: Coghlans emergency blanket, Coghlans whistle, Princeton Tec headlamp , Coghlans water purifier, Coghlans first aid kit, Coghlans candles, Coghlans spoon, fork and knife set, Stinger energy gels, multipurpose tool, Nalgene water bottle, lighter, duct tape, and a water proof bag.
The
R.O.X. Survival Talk also discussed basic family survival. Coach Manny and
Louie also reminded everyone to always make sure that there are no hazards
inside and near your home. There may not be a foolproof way to avoid these
dangers, but it’s best to ensure it could not get worse by things you can
address beforehand. In being prepared, you’re keeping your home and yourself
safe.
Mr. Louie Domingo shows whats inside his container kit.
